BioSpace, Soziales Network for Bio-Medical Community

ETH Zurich team (including myself) of scientists started a project, in which they try to establish a social portal application for scientists. This platform would facilitate the communication between bio-medical researchers and would increase the efficacy of the research work.
BioSpace (http://biospace.ethz.ch), which was launched at the end of September 2008, is a academic, free web-based science environment for scientists. Registered users can set up own group, their personal profiles, join units (universities or companies) and present their scientific work as well as exchange information with other scientists and take part in virtual group discussions.

This platform aims to change the communication in science by providing a global and powerful scientific web-based environment, in which scientists can interact, exchange knowledge and collaborate with researchers of different fields.
BioSpace offers tools that are tailored to the needs of researchers. Whether you are working with a co-researcher on a project from different countries or continents or you would like to find a forum to discuss your research ideas and results, BioSpace lets you stay in touch with researchers all over the world. You can find new research contacts of people, colleges performing in the same field or in different fields using the same techniques as you do. BioSpace offers a web interface where researchers can maintain contacts, share their experiences, and connects researchers and information into one cohesive network.
